Here at Columbia College Chicago, I’ve had the opportunity to learn front-end web development skills from an impressive list of accomplished teachers. This page is a way for me to show some of the projects I worked on while at Columbia College Chicago.
Story Development For Interactive Media was a great class taught by a great teacher. This class was a mix of creative writing and technology. Assignments consisted of written stories, presented in ways that encouraged interaction. I enjoyed writing creative stories and practicing my web skills by developing websites to present the stories. I created a website to showcase some of my favorite stories from the class.
Authoring Interactive Media was my first web development class at Columbia. I learned the fundamentals of HTML and CSS. This is the class that started me on the path to front-end web development, and got me particularly interested in CSS.
I learned a lot of great HTML5 and CSS3 tips/tricks in Authoring Interactive Media 2. Every webpage for this class was written in HTML5 markup. I was encouraged to take advantage of CSS3's new properties and capabilities. I also learned about responsive web design using CSS media queries.
Intro to Javascript taught me the basics of javascript and jquery. I learned a little bit about making API calls and also how to manipulate the HTML5 Canvas tag with javascript.
Advanced Interfaces was a really useful class. Through in-class practices and projects, I learned current best practices in user interface design. We focused on modern and emerging technologies. We designed a mobile app as well as a full website.
2D Imaging taught me some great photoshop techniques. It was a fun class that allowed me to explore my creativity.
